Common questions

What life domains does the timeline cover?

Seven built-in domains: Career, Home, Education, Travel, Relationships, Health, and Milestones. Each has its own color-coded lane. Premium users can create custom lanes for anything that doesn't fit — hobbies, creative projects, side businesses, and more.

Can I add custom lanes beyond the 7 built-in domains?

Yes, with a Premium subscription. Free users have access to all 7 built-in domains with no event limits per lane. Custom lanes are great for things like a pet's history, a music project timeline, or anything personal to your life.

What if I don't know the exact dates for older events?

No problem — LifeCharted supports fuzzy dates. You can log an event with just a year, or a year and a month, without specifying an exact day. The timeline renders these appropriately, so your history doesn't have to be perfectly documented to be useful.

Can I import data from LinkedIn or another tool?

Yes. You can import your LinkedIn data export to pre-populate your Career domain. We're adding more import sources over time. For everything else, Quick Add and Voice Quick Add make it fast to log events from memory in seconds.

How does the mobile view work?

On screens narrower than 768px, the Gantt timeline switches to a Life Feed — a vertical, chronological card view that's designed for touch. You can browse, search, and add events from any device. The Gantt view is best on a laptop or desktop.

Can I share my timeline with someone else?

With Premium, yes. You can create a pinned snapshot — a read-only, shareable link that captures your timeline at a specific moment. You can share the full timeline or a filtered view (e.g., just your career). The snapshot doesn't update automatically, so what you share is exactly what you chose to share.

How is LifeCharted different from Day One or a journal app?

Day One is a daily journal — great for capturing day-to-day moments. LifeCharted is structured around life chapters and domains — jobs, homes, trips, relationships — rather than daily entries. The result is a structured, navigable record of your life rather than a stream of diary entries. They're complementary, not competing.

Is there a limit to how many events I can add on the free plan?

Free accounts can store up to 25 life events. That's enough to map the major chapters of a life — a few jobs, a few homes, an education arc. When you're ready to capture everything, upgrading to Premium removes the limit entirely.

Your life deserves to be kept.
