Why is my account not open yet?
New accounts open in small daily batches. Here is what the waiting screen means.
Does this apply to you?
If signing in took you straight into your timeline, it does not — your account is open and you can ignore this article. This covers the case where you sign in and reach a page saying your account opens tomorrow.
Why there is a queue
New accounts are opened in small daily batches rather than all at once, so that every first session gets proper attention. Your place is already held — you are not on a waitlist hoping for an invite.
You will get an email the moment your account opens, usually the following morning. Nothing is required from you in the meantime.
If your spot expired
Spots are held for a limited time. If yours opened while you were away it will have gone to someone else, and the page will offer to put you back in line — one tap, and you keep your place for the next batch.
Skipping the wait
Premium accounts open immediately. If you would rather not wait, upgrading from the waiting screen opens your account straight away.
Rules of Thumb
- Check the inbox for the address you signed up with — the opening notice goes there.
- You do not need to sign up again; a second account will not move you up the queue.
Common Mistakes
- Creating a second account with another email, which starts a fresh place in line rather than skipping it.
- Assuming an invite code is needed — it is not.
