Events — Free is capped at 25; Premium is unlimited.
Categories — all 10 built-in categories on both plans. Creating your own custom categories requires Premium.
Eras — Free can have 5 named eras; Premium is unlimited.
Multiple locations on one event — Free gets one location per event; additional stops require Premium.

Photos and files

Photos per event — 3 on Free, 10 on Premium.
Total storage — 500 MB on Free, 10 GB on Premium.
Documents per event — 3 on Free, 10 on Premium.
Google Photos import — Premium only.

AI features

Life Interview — Free gets 20 questions in total across all chapters, once. Premium is effectively unlimited.
Voice Quick Add — 6 minutes of transcription per cycle on Free, unlimited on Premium.
My Story — Free gets 3 generations and 5 refinements per month, the Full Life Story type, and Short/Medium lengths. Premium gets 40 generations, 100 refinements, all six story types, and Long-form.
AI Insights — 5 generations per month and 20 saved insights on Free; 25 per month and unlimited saved on Premium.
Life Resume — 2 generations per month on Free, 10 on Premium.
Photo Book — 2 generations per month on Free, 15 on Premium.

Documents and sharing

Story history — Free keeps 3 saved versions; version history and restore are Premium.
Exports — copying story text and downloading your resume as HTML work on any plan. PDF export requires Premium.
Sharing — creating share links requires Premium. Your own data export (JSON, CSV, PDF summary) is available on any plan.

What never changes

The full timeline, map, search, privacy controls, and your ability to export everything you have entered are on both plans. Downgrading never deletes anything — your events stay, you just cannot add past the Free cap until you upgrade again.

Rules of Thumb

Monthly AI quotas reset on the first of the calendar month; the Life Interview's 20 questions do not reset at all.
If you are only hitting one limit, check whether a one-off cleanup solves it before upgrading.
Complimentary accounts have full Premium access without a payment method.

Common Mistakes

Assuming a cancelled subscription deletes data over the Free limits — it does not.
Spending free Life Interview questions on a chapter that matters least; they are a one-time allowance.
