How do I use Voice Quick Add?

What Voice Quick Add does

Tap the mic button in the Quick Add bar, speak naturally about one or more life events, then stop. The app transcribes what you said and extracts structured events — title, category, dates, and location.

A preview appears before anything is saved. You can remove events you do not want, then confirm to add the rest to your timeline.

What to say

Speak the way you would tell a friend. You do not need special phrasing.

• "I lived in Seattle from 2014 to 2018."
• "Graduated from Ohio State in May 2011."
• "Started working at Salesforce in 2019, still there now."
• "Ran my first marathon in 2022 and hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2023."
• You can describe multiple events in one recording — the AI separates them.

Recording limits

Each recording is capped at 60 seconds. Free accounts have 3 minutes of total transcription per billing cycle. Premium accounts get unlimited recording.

Your remaining quota is checked before recording starts. If you are near the limit, upgrade or add the event manually instead.

If the result looks wrong

Tap "Record again" to start a new recording without closing the panel. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

If the AI cannot extract a structured event, your original transcript is preserved so you can add the event manually from it.

Rules of Thumb

• Speak in complete sentences — "I worked at IBM from 2010 to 2015" works better than "IBM 2010 2015".
• Include an approximate year even when you are unsure — the AI handles estimates well.
• You can describe several events in one recording.

Common Mistakes

• Speaking too softly or in a noisy environment — the mic needs a clear signal.
• Confirming before reviewing — check the preview, especially dates and categories.
• Expecting the AI to infer events you did not mention.
