How do I link or unlink Google and Apple sign-in?
Connect multiple sign-in methods to the same account so you can always get back in.
What is identity linking?
LifeCharted supports three ways to sign in: email OTP (a code sent to your email), Google, and Apple.
Identity linking lets you connect more than one method to the same account. Once linked, any of those methods will bring you into the same profile — no data duplication.
How to link a new sign-in method
Open your profile page and find the Identity linking section near the top. Each provider (Google, Apple) shows its current status.
If a provider is not linked, select Link Google or Link Apple. You will be redirected to authenticate with that provider and then returned to your profile. The new method is now active.
How to unlink a sign-in method
Select Unlink next to a connected provider. You must have at least one other sign-in method active before you can remove one — the app will not let you lock yourself out.
Email OTP is always available as an option from the sign-in page using the same email address on file.
Rules of Thumb
- Link at least two methods so you always have a backup way to sign in.
- You cannot unlink your last remaining sign-in method.
- Linking a new provider does not create a second account — it merges access into your existing one.
Common Mistakes
- Signing in with Google for the first time after previously using email OTP, expecting them to be the same account automatically — they are separate accounts unless identity linking is used first.
- Trying to unlink the only active provider.
